International Development Director
Paul is International Development Director of the Aurora group of companies, reporting to CEO Andrew Johnson.
He has overall responsibility for Aurora’s hubs in South Africa and Australia, focusing on developing business for the Group with major corporate clients, leading the sales and commercial teams and directing the operations in these hubs. He is also the lead negotiator responsible for all acquisitions for the Aurora Group.
Paul has developed the South African hub into a leading supplier of solid-state lighting solutions, achieving annual revenues in excess of $10 million. He successfully completed the largest energy-saving retrofit lighting project in South Africa involving more than 157 buildings, leading to savings of 5.5 megawatts of electricity.
Previously he served as Owner and CEO of Deta Electrical for 10 years. In that role he undertook a complete re-engineering of the company, pioneering a successful rebrand and launching of hundreds of new products. After a tenfold growth in the company, Paul oversaw the sale of Deta to the Arlec Group, an international listed company on the Australian stock exchange at that time, where he served for four years as Group Managing Director. Arlec had offices in the UK, France, Hong Kong and Australia, with factories in China.
With 30 years of international business experience in Asia, Paul has negotiated business partnerships and supply contracts, managed factories and businesses in Europe and Australasia and was directly responsible for marketing and launching products into the UK, France and Australia.
Paul holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Science from the University of South Africa and an MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand, Graduate School of Business, Johannesburg. He is married with four children.
